First Completed Quilt of 2011!

Finally, here's my first quilt of 2011. Actually, this quilt was supposed to be finished in 2010, but I ran into a couple of snags along the way. I very happily finished this quilt on February 13th and it is now in the home of its happy owner! My friend wanted a quilt for her son's new "big boy room" and she wanted it very simple with just the cream Hooty Hoot Kangaroo fabric by Riley Blake. It really was easy to put together once I got the fabric. It is a twin-sized quilt, so the quilting and binding took a little longer.

She decided on a simple solid color back. I used Kona Cotton in baby blue.

I used the brown dot fabric from the collection for the binding. I am just so in love with any of Riley Blake's dots! They are so perfect for binding! :)

My friend also requested an owl pillow. I found a free pattern online here, and it is wonderful! I used left over brown fleece I had on hand, and more dots, this time in blue from Riley Blake, as well as some argyle fabric from the Pure fabric collection by Sweetwater. I'm thinking I will have to make one for my son too, since I'm a major owl lover, and when my son saw this one he said, "That for me?". I felt bad when I said, "No. Sorry, honey. This is for your friend." He's so easy-going, he just said, "Oh, otay." Sweet boy!

Sorry it's taken me so long to post anything on here. It's been hard to find a time when I feel good enough to do anything, let alone blog. I'm really ready for this "morning sickness" (aka all-day sickness) to go away. I'm hoping to post more of some of my works-in-progress. But, don't be mad if it takes me a while. ;)
