I Heart Faces Photo Challenge

This is my first time entering a photo into the I Heart Faces weekly challenge. And, I think it is also my first time posting a photo of a person's face on my blog! If you've never heard of I Heart Faces, you can check them out by clicking on the button above.

Well, here is my silly husband when we were in one of our favorite places to visit... the Outer Banks of North Carolina. If you've ever been there, you've probably seen these seagulls everywhere. They look a little different from the type you'll see at the Pacific Ocean. But, they act just the same. If you just wave your hand up and down, they start flying all around you because they think you have food. My husband loves to do this just to tease them. Pretty soon he ends up with about 20 or so seagulls swarming above him! It makes for some funny pics and great laughs! :) Enjoy!

I've Been Tagged!

So, I was responding to some of my comment love the other day, when I visited Shraddha and April Belle's blog, The Self Love Project. I noticed that I had been one of three other bloggers tagged to participate in this photo tag. According to them, the rules of photo tag are:  Open your first photo folder. Scroll down to the 10th photo. Post that photo and story on your blog. Tag three others (or more) friends to do the same. So, now it's my turn to tag... I am going to pick three other mama blogs that I follow:

So, now it's your turn, ladies! :) Have fun!

My story about this picture: My first photo album on my computer is all pictures of two of our "other kids"... our Pembroke Welsh Corgis! Before our son was born, we took TONS of pictures of our animals! A little background/explanation is probably needed for our dogs' names... The bigger/fatter Corgi with the black snout is named Siu Mai (pronounced "shoe my"--"Siu Mai" is a pork dumpling served for Chinese Dim Sum). The smaller Corgi with the white snout is named Macchiato (after our favorite Starbuck's drink... Caramel Macchiato). We also call them "Chimpy" and "Chompy", because Siu Mai likes to whine like a chimp, and Macchiato likes to snap at Siu Mai when they're playing, with her teeth making a loud "chomp" like when an alligator chomps down on its prey. :) Here are the dogs when Macchiato was still a puppy... We had just gotten her about 2 months before our son was born because we thought Siu Mai needed a friend. :) They were sharing a chew toy that looked like corn-on-the-cob. They are very "chewy" dogs... so this toy no longer exists... Also, the bed that they are on in this picture, no longer exists either. We soon learned that they cannot be trusted with a soft, luxurious bed! It's fun waking up to fabric and stuffing all over the house... sigh! Oh well!
At least they are good to have around when my son decides to start throwing his unwanted food all over the place! ;)

Enjoy!

New Life!

Okay, so this really doesn't have anything to do with cooking or crafts... But, I'm introducing you to my other passion (one of many...). I LOVE taking pictures of wildlife! I am not a pro-photographer or anything, but I love my Nikon cameras, and I love experimenting, taking unique photos of nature and wildlife! Now, these pictures are not very unique, but I wanted to capture this exciting event in our backyard. I am not a huge fan of doves. I think they are kinda stupid birds. There are so many here in AZ, and it seems like they love to fly directly in front of moving cars like Kamikaze dive bombers! Or, they'll just sit in the road waiting to be hit by a car... Nevertheless, I was happy to see that a mother dove chose our Texas Ebony to build a nest for her babies!  I soooo wanted a good picture of her feeding the babies, but I also didn't want to risk scaring her away and abandoning her babies. So, I took this pic through my window, which needs some serious cleaning...
Here's mama bird covering her babies. I have to say, she picked a great spot. It was relatively high up the tree. I had to use a stool to get better pics. And if you are unfamiliar with Texas Ebony, they are very thorny trees, so the only one bothering her was me. ;) I used the super-zoom lens as much as possible. When she was out getting food, I got to snap some pics of the babies.

They're so little here! You can barely see the tops of their heads!

It's amazing how fast they grow! I thought humans were fast... I can't imagine being a mama bird and having to let go so soon! I'm glad I at least have 17 more years with my baby... hoping for more! :(

A little while after I took this last picture, the babies flew away! Sniff... bye babies! Be safe! :)
