Bumblebee Quilt--10th Quilt of the Year!

Well, I've finished my 10th quilt of the year! Although, I guess if I include the 2 mini quilts that I recently made, it would be quilt #12! Either way, I don't plan on quitting making quilts anytime soon, so I think I will exceed my goal for the year. :)

I made this quilt using leftovers from 2 fabric collections: Eclipse by Exclusively Quilters Fabrics and Harlequin in Yellow by RJR Fabrics. I also used some white jelly roll strips by Moda in between. I love the yellow and black, and obviously I named this quilt Bumblebee because of the colors and the striped pattern. I did my usual meandering stipple quilting all over.

I used a fat 1-inch black and white gingham fabric for the back. I LOVE any gingham, but the big gingham is my favorite!

I hand-stitched one little hexagon from my big pile on the back.

I used a white/black circle fabric for the binding.

This quilt is now up for sale in my Etsy shop! :)

Time for a Giveaway!

In honor of having 100 followers, I am having a giveaway! I've decided that I will be giving away a mini quilt made by none other than yours truly. :) I've made a few of these mini monkey quilts in the past for my Etsy shop. I just love the fabric (Goodnight Monkey by Erin Michaels for Moda) and think the monkeys are so cute!

I've made this one using only the red fabrics in the collection, with a simple patchwork design. The entire quilt measures approximately 17 inches by 17 inches... a good size for a doll quilt, a small cuddly quilt for baby, or even a wall hanging.

To keep it softer on the back, I did minimal quilting, just along the middle seams.

I used a chocolate brown fleece fabric on the back for an extra snuggly feel.

I hand-stitched the binding on the back using the brown sock texture fabric from the collection.

Tropical Popsicles and My New Cute Bag!

I made these for my son the other day! Yes... it is still popsicle weather here, although 102 is much cooler than 115! When you have fresh fruit on hand, popsicles are very easy to make and are still a healthy choice for a cool treat! We all loved these. They were the perfect amount of sweetness without any added sugars. Enjoy! :)

Ingredients:

1 peach, peeled, pitted and sliced

1/2 cup pineapple, cubed

1 banana, sliced

1/4 cup orange juice

Place all ingredients in a food processor and puree until smooth and liquid. Pour into popsicle molds or ice cube trays with popsicle sticks. Freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight. Serve and enjoy! :)

Isn't it super cute?! I love the yellow! It reminds me of sunflowers (my favorite)! :) Gabrielle makes lots of different bags. This one is a reusable grocery bag. I think it is so pretty! Almost too pretty to use as a grocery bag! I am planning on using it to tote around things in my house up and down the stairs.
