Quilt #1 progress...

Hello, everyone! As you may remember at the beginning of this year, I mentioned that I had a new goal... to make a quilt a month in 2010. Well, here is quilt top #1. I should be finishing the actual quilting in the next couple of days. Just in time for my personal deadline.

This quilt is an "I Spy" quilt for my son. It has 48 blocks, with 47 different "I Spy" squares. I collected a bunch of different fabrics for the "I Spy" squares, and will probably end up having enough to make another "I Spy" quilt! I tried to get a bunch of things that I know my son would be able to recognize and also things that he loves, such as cars, balls, animals, shapes, and of course, "Wubbzy"! ;) I used blues and greens in between the squares. I saved the last corner square for my tag.

I will update with more pictures once I complete the quilt.

Now its time to work on my quilt sandwich... :)

Craft Hope for Haiti

After hearing about the disaster in Haiti, I wanted so much to help out in some way. I was so glad to see that Craft Hope stepped up to help out. The wonderful people at Craft Hope have set up a custom Etsy shop where crafters can donate their handmade items so others can purchase them. 100% of the proceeds will benefit Doctors Without Borders, who will do what they can to help the people in Haiti get the medical attention they so desperately need. Craft Hope Project 6

So, I've added another project... I love seeing what each new project is for Craft Hope. This will be the third project I have participated in. I really think what they are doing is so great! Project number 6 will be helping The Orphan Foundation of America's Red Scarf Program. We will all be making red scarves for foster teens. The winter has been so cold in so many places across the U.S. It will be great to help warm up some teens this winter. I am blessed here in AZ, it is really nice weather. No need for scarves where I am at. I am also glad that I learned how to crochet! In between my other projects, I will be making at least one scarf, maybe two to send out. If you know how to knit or crochet, please help out in making some red scarves for these teens. The deadline is Valentine's Day, February 14th! Craft Hope Project 6

New Year, New Goal!

Well, let me just start out by saying how extremely sorry I am for the past 3 months of non- blogging. I have had an extremely busy holiday season with my new Etsy shop, and also dealing with some health issues at the same time. I am doing fine now, and I am also very glad that I had so much success with my shop. I am taking a little break from Etsy so that I can restock my shop and work on other things. Anyways, I wanted to let you all know that I will be making some changes to my blog, and hopefully starting a new blog about my goal for this year. Last year, I made my first four quilts, and I have really gotten hooked on quilting... and am now addicted to fabrics! Oh my goodness... there are some lovely fabrics out there! Well, my goal for 2010 is to make a quilt a month... or more. I am pretty sure I can do it. I currently make very simple quilts, so I'm pretty confident that one quilt a month should be fairly easy. Once I start getting into more advanced techniques, I might not be able to do that many. But, anyways, that is my goal for this year, and I am so excited about it! I am already at work on two different quilts. One will be an "I Spy" Quilt for my son, and the other is going to be a Valentine's quilt for my hubby. I will send pics of the works in progress soon. In the meantime, enjoy this pic of my last quilt of 2009. I was not happy with the first quilt that I made for my niece (my first quilt ever). But, the biggest reason why I decided to make her a different one was because when I saw this fabric, it screamed her name! It was the perfect theme and colors for her and I just had to get this fabric! :) As usual, I did a very simple quilt, and not much actual "quilting" to it since I wanted the fabric to really be the main focus. Enjoy!

Front. I used the Castles and Carriages fabric from Studio R Designs. My niece is a major princess, and her room is decorated in pinks and greens.

Back. I used the Princess Tonal Pink fabric from the collection and wrapped it around to the front for a simple binding method.

Closer view of the back fabric, and very simple quilting. I don't know how to do all the fancy designs yet.

I gave this to her for Christmas and she loves it! Yay! :)
